Next Step Dance is a training facility for all forms of dance with an optional recital. We offer year round classes with registration open all year as well. The studio year is August through Recital and the summer session is June through mid-August. 

Students are welcome to join classes mid-session so don't worry if you feel like you missed 'the window'

 Jazz- A stylized and technical form of dance that considers placement, precision, strength, flexibility, and a ballet foundation combined with the use of rhythmic music
 Attire: Form-fitting dancewear. Example: leotard, half top, tank top, biker shorts or tights. Shoes: jazz shoes. Hair pulled out of face.
  
 Lyrical - A combination of ballet and jazz technique and is more expressive in nature.  It allows the individual to bring personal freedom, spirit and creativity to their movement.
 Attire: Form fitting dancewear. Example: leotard, half top, tank top, biker shorts or tights. Shoes: jazz shoes. Hair pulled out of face.
  
 Ballet - The foundation of dance.  The use of technical vocabulary of steps, poses, leaps and jumps, to convey a story/theme/atmosphere.
 Attire:  Females- Pink ballet shoes, pink tights, black leotard, hair in a bun.  Males - Tight white t-shirt, black dance pants, black ballet shoes.  
 
 Pointe - A form of dance that is performed on the tips of toes through the use of specific shoes. It incorporates the vocabulary of ballet technique and adds an element of magic to its movement.
 Attire:  Females- Pink pointe shoes, pink tights, black leotard hair in a bun. Males- Tight white t-shirt, black dance pants 
 
Hip Hop - A structured form of street dance often found in music videos, designed to teach coordination, strength, quickness, agility and endurance accompanied with popular R&B music.
Attire: Any comfortable and movable clothing. Shoes: tennis shoes/sneakers.
  
 Tap -  Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds and having fun.
 Attire: Any comfortable dance/athletic wear. Optional: leotard and tights with shorts. Shoes: black tap shoes. Hair pulled out of face.
 
Modern - Interpretive form of dance created in the 20th century breaking with Western ballet tradition; dance that features an individual's movement, language and choreographic style.
Attire: Any color leotard and tights or dance shorts. Shoes: none. Hair pulled out of face.
  
Jazz/Drill - A precision form of jazz focusing on technique, placement, strength and flexibility.  Used as a prep class for drill team auditions and maintenance throughout the year.
Attire: Form-fitting dancewear. Example: leotard, half top, tank top, bikers shorts or tights. Shoes: jazz shoes.
  
High Kick - This class will help dancers perfect high kick technique by increasing flexibility and stamina.
Attire: Form-fitting dancewear. Example: leotard, half top, tank top, biker shorts or tights. Shoes: jazz shoes, tennis shoes or sneakers.
  
Combination Classes - Designed to prepare children for upper level classes. It combines several techniques to introduce children to the the many forms and elements of dance; including flexibility, coordination and rhythm.
Attire: Any style or color leotard and tights. Children will only change shoes on time during this class. For ballet portion: pink ballet shoes, laces should be pulled tight, tied and tucked inside shoe. For Tap portion: black tap shoes, laces removed and replaced by a piece of elastic.
  
Creative Movement - Designed to develop the child's movement and classroom skills through creative play, music and dance. Based upon a curriculum that teaches children classroom behavior, independence, coordination and listening skills.
Attire: Any style or color leotard, tights or jazz pants. Shoes: jazz shoes.
 
Mini Junior Legends Dancers -
This class is required to be a part of the Next Step Dance Junior Texas Legends Dance Team. This noncompetitive performance team dances at the Texas Legends home games as well as some community appearances. 
 Attire:  Any comfortable and movable clothing. Shoes: tennis shoes/sneakers.
 
 Junior Legends Dancers -   This class is required to be a part of the Next Step Dance Junior Texas Legends Dance Team. This noncompetitive performance team dances at the Texas Legends home games as well as some community appearances.
